Airport selection & considerations
Reykjavík City (RKV / BIRK) is close to the capital and serves domestic flights and general aviation. International private arrivals are also possible. We compare it with Keflavík against your address, aircraft and any onward flights.
Handling, operating hours & availability
Local private aviation handling is agreed in advance. For an international arrival, we coordinate the required entry arrangements. The operating airline checks operating hours and weather for the particular flight.
Onward travel & baggage
For onward travel within Iceland, we check which airport your next flight uses. A departure from KEF requires a drive to Keflavík. A booked partner transfer is planned around your luggage and the first accommodation or appointment.

Arrive in the city. Explore from there.
Is your first stop a city appointment or your accommodation elsewhere in Iceland? Send us the address and any booked onward flight. We compare Reykjavík City with Keflavík and can arrange a transfer through local partners. Weather-related changes are coordinated with the operating airline; any alternative airport must be suitable for the particular flight.
Enquire about your flight and onward journey →Your questions. Clearly answered.
Is Reykjavík City restricted to domestic flights?
No. Although often called the Domestic Airport, RKV can also handle international private flights. Aircraft suitability and any required entry arrangements are confirmed in advance with the operating airline and local handling provider.
Can I connect from RKV to an airline flight at KEF?
Yes, but it requires a road transfer between two airports. We allow for the drive, baggage and your airline’s check-in requirements. Share the flight number so we can also compare arriving by private jet directly at Keflavík.
